CRANBROOK TREE PLANTING
Memorial Tree Planted for Miles Levin, CK
'07

10/30/2008
In honor of Miles Levin, CK '07, a memorial tree was planted this morning near
the Friendship Circle on the Cranbrook Campus. This memorial was made possible
through the support of the Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club.
Friends, family and classmates attended the small service. Brian MacKenzie,
member at large, spoke on behalf of the Optimist Club, saying he was "honored to
dedicate this young tree to an optimistic and accomplished youth.... Miles
shared his inspirational optimism with others and helps us realize how special
each day really is."
Miles' father, Jon, said that the tree is an appropriate symbol, and that Miles
can feel his old friends passing by. Miles' mother, Nancy, stated, "Miles wrote
in his blog what I think is the most powerful and true: 'I'm doing fine. I
refuse to do otherwise. That much is mine.' When I read those words, I knew he'd
be okay."
The tree will stand in remembrance of Miles, a beloved CK student and friend.
